Fishguard Bay Ocean Race
The Fishguard Bay Ocean Race is a major downwind ocean ski and canoe racing event which takes place along the rugged outline of North Pembrokeshire’s wild, award-winning north coast. The course starts at Abereiddy and finishes after a 25km course of big Atlantic waves on Goodwick beach, near Fishguard.
Taking place over the weekend of the 2nd-3rd of September, the 2017 event is the second year for FBOR, which had it's inaugural event take place in 2016.
The race consists of a challenging “black belt” seascape and coastal environment. The coast of North Pembrokeshire is spectacular but can be unforgiving, therefore giving the Fishguard Bay race a very competitive feel, designed for professionals and seasoned ocean kayakers alike. It runs along the most demanding stretch or the North Pembrokeshire coastline, taking in the entirely exposed 14km open sea leg followed by 6km close in by the cliffs, reefs and tidal overfalls of Stumble Head before the final 4km to the finish in Goodwick.
FBM Holidays are proud to help promote this event and we have properties in the local area that allow for spectators and competitors alike to stay and act as a great base for the weekend's events.
