Newport Parrog beach is a small pebble and grey sand beach on the edge of the old Norman village of Newport in north Pembrokeshire. Sit on the giant rocks after a long day walking and cherish an evening looking out at this historic landscape and the breathtaking sunsets. The Parrog is easily accessed and toilets and parking are near the beach, dogs are also welcome all year round. There is a popular restaurant also selling ice cream right on the sea shore, look out for Morawelon. Newport does get very busy during the summer months so it might be worth arriving by Poppit Rocket to avoid the stresses of finding somewhere to park.

Whilst on holiday in the National Park you should take the opportunity and walk the coastal path from Newport. Head south from the Parrog, past some picturesque sailors’ cottages and imposing sea captains’ houses and you will soon find a rugged and well trodden coastal path. Perfect for romantic walks on a weekend away, the views across the bay will bring a calming escape from a busy town life. Keep walking and you will soon reach the sheltered coves of Aberfforest and Aberigion, two beaches that you may have to yourself even during the summer holidays. Venturing north on the path will take you through the marshes along a beautifully wild estuary where you can enjoy seeing a range of birds gather throughout the season. For a good space to see the view, stop at the bridge and you can look back towards the hills and far out to sea.

If you wanted to explore Newport village further then head up to town and be sure to visit the whole foods shop for some locally made produce or grab a coffee at the Canteen. This popular North Pembrokeshire restaurant offers a broad choice of menus and even a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. They are only open Friday to Monday.
