Broad Haven South (near Bosherston) is a spectacular beach. Bright, vibrant colours from the sea and land bounce off the golden sand and show off this award winning beach. The bay is a beautiful wide curve with soft sand that welcomes the sea. The beach’s cleanliness is reflected in a recommendation from the marine conservation society and the beauty and diversity of wildlife in the surrounding area are now a nature reserve under the care of the National Trust.
On your holiday in Pembrokeshire you must visit the Bosherston Lily Ponds. This fantastic reserve is home to a range of wildlife from dragonflies to otters all of which can be seen when you walk through the lily ponds which are a part of the Stackpole Estate. The National Trust has provided a choice of walks to take through the ponds depending on your tastes and interests. These beautiful mini lakes lead you through to Broad Haven South and are a fantastic prelude to the expansive views from the beach.
There are facilities near the beach with parking at the top of the cliff. Dogs are allowed all year round and the water is good for swimming. It can also have good surf. Let the hours slip away on Broad Haven South and spend the evening at the nearby St Govan’s Inn in Bosherston. The pub takes its name from nearby St Govan’s chapel. Govan watched over seafarers from his home and chapel on the cliffs. The area is also popular for its Arthurian legends, with tales that Sir Gawain is buried on St Govan’s Head.
