Barafundle Bay is located on the south coast of Pembrokeshire, West Wales.
Until recently, Barafundle Bay was one of Pembrokeshire’s best kept secrets. Now this beautiful secluded beach is considered not only one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK but also in the world, appearing in top 20 lists on many occasions. Being part of the Stackpole Estate and under the care of the National Trust this breathtaking, award winning beach is a remote haven of tranquility.
Barafundle Bay is only accessible on foot, the nearest car park being at Stackpole Quay about half a mile away. The walk through the fields along the clifftops has stunning views of the coast and the walk down to the beach is via steps and a steepish path. The bay itself could almost be a tropical beach with its golden sands and clear blue waters.
There are no facilities at the beach itself but Stackpole village is nearby and the Stackpole Inn serves delicious food in its award winning restaurant. Recently awarded the title of ‘best gastro pub in Wales’ it offers a varied menu and a great atmosphere both inside the cozy pub and outside in the pretty beer garden.
The old walled garden on the Stackpole Estate is not far from Barafundle Bay, so after a morning on the beach why not visit the Cawdors tearooms for refreshments and light bites, then pop in to the shop for the freshest fruit and veg straight from the garden. This beautiful 250 year old garden is run and maintained by Pembrokeshire Mencap, a valuable charity enabling people with learning difficulties to receive practical experience and qualification in horticulture in a fantastic and inspiring setting.
Barafundle Bay is a dog friendly beach all year round, so you and your best friend can enjoy this quaint little beach throughout the changing seasons.
