If you would like to explore a rural but still safe little beach then Aberbach is very suitable. It is almost never crowded and is very private. If you are looking for somewhere to watch the sunset on a romantic weekend away or may just somewhere to read a good book in a sheltered cove then this is the place to go. It also has a good catch for those of you who like a spot of casual fishing.
Aberbach beach is not far from the traditional village of Mathry. This hill top village is picturesque and perfect for a quiet lazy morning amble. When visiting Mathry be sure to check out the general stores. This little village shop is locally famed for being able to source anything that you might need. In fact they even rise to the occasional challenge. Its appearance and layout have remained the same for the last 20 to 30 years or so.
The area of Aberbach is great for spotting wildlife, walk south along the coast from Aberbach past Abermawr and you will be able to enjoy seeing seals and sea birds. If you venture north towards the lighthouse at Strumble Head on your weekend away then you may be able to spot dolphins or a porpoise especially in late August.
